There are moments when the desire to photograph better is no longer just a passing thought. It starts returning again and again – when you see beautiful light on the street, when you want to preserve a memory from a journey, when you photograph the people close to you and feel that the frame could be much more than an ordinary picture.
That is exactly when the natural question appears: where do I begin?
My Beginner Photography Course in Sofia was created precisely for this moment – when a person wants to take their first more conscious step into photography. Not alone, not chaotically, not through endless wandering between videos, settings and unclear terms, but in a calm, structured and practical environment.
This article will be updated over time with the current dates for upcoming editions of the course, so you can easily see when the next opportunity to register is.
Upcoming dates for the photography course
Current dates for the in-person beginner photography course in Sofia:
- July 23, 2026 – in-person beginner photography course in Sofia
- August 24, 2026 – in-person beginner photography course in Sofia
The course is held in a small group, so there is time for attention, questions, practice and real feedback. Places are limited because it is important to me that the training remains personal, calm and truly useful for every participant.
If you feel drawn to photography but do not know where to begin, these dates are an opportunity to make a clear and practical start.

What is the idea behind the course?
Photography often begins with curiosity, but it develops through understanding. Many people have a camera, enjoy taking pictures, make attempts, but at some point reach the feeling that something is missing. The photograph does not look the way they imagined it. The light is not controlled. The focus is not where it should be. The settings sound complicated. And Auto mode starts to feel like a limitation one wants to move beyond.
This is exactly where a well-structured photography course can bring enormous clarity. Not because it will overwhelm you with information, but because it will arrange what matters most. It will show you how the camera works, why light is so important, how a frame is built and how to start photographing more confidently and more consciously.
My goal is for the course to be not simply a technical introduction, but a true beginning. One that helps you understand more, see better and photograph with greater confidence.
Who is this photography course suitable for?
The course is suitable for complete beginners, for enthusiasts who have been photographing for some time but feel they are missing a solid foundation, as well as for people who finally want to understand their camera beyond automatic mode.
It is also suitable if you want to photograph your family, children, travels, the urban environment, personal projects or simply the world around you in a better way. You do not need to have professional ambitions. It is enough to have the desire to photograph more beautifully, more meaningfully and with greater understanding.
You can also participate if you do not yet have your own camera, but first want to understand the basics and feel whether photography is your path. The most important thing is not for the equipment to be the most expensive, but for the beginning to be the right one.
What does the program include?
The program is created to provide a clear and practical foundation. At the beginning of photography, the most important thing is not to know everything. The most important thing is to understand correctly the key principles upon which you can later build.
During the course, we will explore essential topics such as:
- how the camera works and how to start using it with more confidence;
- what exposure is and how aperture, shutter speed and ISO are connected;
- how light changes the feeling, mood and quality of a photograph;
- how to think about focus, depth of field and perspective;
- how composition helps the frame become cleaner, stronger and more impactful;
- how to move beyond random shooting and start making more conscious decisions;
- how to do practical exercises that develop your eye and your confidence.
But beyond the settings, we will also talk about something just as important – the way a photographer sees. Because a good photograph is not only the result of correct numbers. It is the result of attention, choice, sensitivity and presence.
Theory and practice in one day
The photography course is designed as in-person training with a clear structure – first we arrange the foundations, then we turn them into practice.
The theoretical part provides understanding. There we talk about the camera, light, exposure, composition and the logic behind a good frame. The practical part helps this knowledge become real. When a person goes out to photograph, the questions become specific, mistakes become visible and progress begins to be felt.
This connection between explanation and practice is one of the most valuable parts of the course. Not simply to hear what a certain setting means, but to apply it. Not simply to understand what composition is, but to start looking for it in a real environment. Not simply to listen about light, but to see how it changes the frame before your eyes.
Why an in-person course matters
You can find a great deal of information online. But information by itself does not always lead to clarity. Sometimes it can even make the beginning more confusing, because a person receives separate pieces of knowledge without knowing how to arrange them.
In-person training has a different kind of strength. There, you can ask a question exactly when something is not clear. You can receive feedback based on your actual photographs and your own pace. You can see how theory comes alive in practice, instead of remaining only a concept.
When the training happens live, photography feels closer. The camera stops looking so complicated. The settings begin to make sense. And the frame is no longer just a coincidence, but the result of a choice.
Small group, more attention
The course is held in a small group because I believe the beginning should feel calm. When someone is just entering photography, they need an environment where they can ask, try, make mistakes and receive guidance without pressure.
In a small group, there is time for individual attention. There is an opportunity for every participant to be heard. There is space for real work, not simply for going through a program.
This makes the training more human, more focused and more useful. Because photography is learned not only through theory, but through practice, observation and conversation.
What you will receive from the course
After the course, you will have a clearer understanding of how the camera works, how to think about light and how to build a frame with more intention. You will know what the main settings are, what their logic is and how to start using them more consciously.
You will also receive a foundation upon which you can continue to develop. This is especially important because, in photography, a good beginning saves a lot of wandering. When a person understands the foundations correctly, every next step becomes more natural.
The course also includes original learning material, which you can use during the training and afterwards. The idea is not to leave only with an impression from the day, but with something you can return to when you continue photographing on your own.

How registration works
If you would like to join one of the upcoming dates, you can view the detailed course page here: Beginner Photography Course.
After you send a registration request by email, you will receive confirmation and information about the next steps. Your place in the course is reserved after payment is completed, as the group is small and places are limited.
I recommend requesting your participation in good time, especially if you have already chosen a specific date. This way, you will have the assurance that your place is reserved, and I will be able to plan the group so that the training remains calm, personal and well organised.
The next step
Sometimes the beginning of something important looks small. One request. One free day. One camera that has so far stayed mostly on Auto. One desire to photograph better.
But it is precisely from such small steps that change begins. When a person understands light, they begin to notice it everywhere. When they understand composition, they begin to arrange the world in a new way. When the camera becomes more understandable, photography becomes freer.

Photography begins with desire. But it becomes a true path when we add understanding, practice and vision to that desire. This is exactly where the first confident step begins.
